  • Universal music group is a global music cooperation that is majority owned by French media    
    conglomerate Vivendi. 
     
  • Universal Music Group has offices in more than 60 countries and is the world leader in music based entertainment. 
  • It is the biggest music company in the world and is classed as one of the big three along with Sony Music and the Warner Music group.  
  • Values: exist to shape culture through the power of artistry. Own and operate a broad array of businesses engaged in recorded music, music publishing, merchandising and audio visual content in more than 60 countries. Identify and develop recording artists and songwriters and produce, distribute and promote the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful music to delight and entertain fans around the world.
  • It was founded in September 1934 by the American Branch of Decca Records 
  • In 2019, it was named the most innovative music company by Fast Company and was listed among the top 50 most innovative companies in the world.

  • May 2004 – Universal Music group are cast under separate management from Universal studios.  
  • Sir Lucian Grainge is the Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group. Grainge has spent his entire career in the music industry and over the span of three decades has seen new approaches to signing and developing some of the world’s most successful recording artists. He has also consistently showed the development of innovative business models and partnerships around the world.
